Happy New Year!!

Our January meeting will be held Thursday,  January 10, 2013 at 6:30 pm-8:30 pm.  We will be meeting at Fuddruckers located at 1704 George Bush Drive East, College Station.  

Our program this month is Resolve to Finish.  We will have knitters on hand to answer any
finishing questions you may have.   We will also be handing out the first clue to the
2013 edition of the Mystery Knit A-Long (MKAL).

August Membership Meeting

The Brazos Valley Knitting Guild's August Meeting will be held Thursday, August 9th at 6:30 pm at the Larry J. Ringer Library located at 1818 Harvey Mitchell Parkway South in College Station.  Come sit and knit with us.

World Wide Knit in Public Day/Week

Join the Brazos Valley Knitting Guild as we Knit in Public. 

·         Thursday, June 14^th at 6:30: Knit in Public at the Post Oak Mall food court.  We will finalize our plans for the library program and work on making the yarn sleeves into dog beds.  Post Oak Mall is located at 1500 Harvey Rd in College Station. 

·         Friday, June 15^th at 7:05: BVKG will Stitch N’ Pitch at the Brazos Valley Bombers game versus the McKinney Marshalls.  We will work on simple hats for cancer patients or preemie hats. November Meeting and Stitches, S'mores & More Update

BVKG Monthly Meeting

Tonight will be our monthly meeting for the Brazos Valley Knitting Guild.  We will meet from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at the Larry J. Ringer Library in College Station.  The program tonight will be making items with fimo clay. Join us as we learn how to make buttons, stitch markers, shawl pins and any other item you can think of.  You will leave with a few completed items and directions on how to bake them.

Stitches, S'Mores & More Update


Many BVKG members attended the first annual Stitches, S'mores & More Knitting Retreat at the end of October.  They took classes in knitting with beads, taught by guild member Rhonda Lance, fair isle knitting and how to dye a silk scarf.  The retreat was held at Camp Allen and the weather was beautiful.  Attendees also got to work on mini-projects where they learned how to knit with a silk hankie, make chart markers, mini pom poms, a sugar scrub and how to work with clay among other things.  Below are a few pictures from the weekend.  Enjoy!

September Guild Meeting

Rhonda taught a wonderful class called Crochet for Knitters.  Those in attendance learned a provisional cast-on, how to crochet a border around a knitted garment and a quick floral embellishment.  Thank you Rhonda for the information.  If you would like the handouts, please email bvknits@yahoo.com.

Our next meeting will be held on October 13th at 6:30 pm at the Larry J. Ringer Library in College Station.  We will be learning how to craft our own stitch markers.  Be sure to join us.  

Mystery Knit Along Update

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our monthly meeting, Thursday, August 11th at 6:30 pm at the Larry J. Ringer Library.  Remember if you complete clue one by the meeting and bring your work you will be entered to win a prize.

BVKG Shirt and Bag Information

The designs have been finalized and we will be accepting shirt orders starting at the meeting this week through the Knit at Night on Thursday, July 28^th.  Order forms will be provided at the meeting, will be posted on the yahoo group and can be emailed out.   The finalized logo appears below and will be the same for both shirts styles and the bag.  Please note that the text for the logo will be black when placed on a white/natural background.   If you have any questions, let us know on Ravelry.

Two styles were chosen: a regular t-shirt by Gildan in a 50/50 blend that will be $12.00 each and will be available in size S – 5XL, and a fitted shirt by Bella that will be $16.00 each and available in size S - 2XL.  To see pictures and colors, click on the links below.

Bags

One type of tote bag was chosen.  Bags are available with the main color in canvas and the side panels and handles in turquoise, fuchsia, red, navy, or mocha.  Bags will be $18.00 each and will have the same logo as the shirts.
